Six years ago, Creative Kitchen began in the most humble way in local community centres, with a big idea, a lot of heart, and just a handful of children joining Jemma on a Saturday morning.
What started as a small adventure didn’t stay small for long. Families returned, word spread, and those early sessions quickly became something many people looked forward to each week. Fast forward six years, we’ve a jam-packed timetable offering workshops for all ages and with our own cooking school now firmly established, we opened our doors on Saturday afternoon to celebrate the journey so far.

A Birthday Celebration to Remember
From the moment the doors opened, Creative Kitchen was buzzing. Over 75 families joined us to celebrate, decorate and soak up the atmosphere, filling the space with smiles, sprinkles and excitement.
The kitchen stayed packed throughout the afternoon, with a steady queue and every table full. In fact, we even ran out of cookies and had to bake more during the event, the best possible sign of a great celebration!

Decorating, Creating & Celebrating Together
Families were invited to decorate birthday cake–shaped cookies, piping icing and adding plenty of sprinkles. Alongside the baking, children enjoyed birthday-themed crafts, making the space feel colourful, busy and full of life. Children proudly showed off their designs while families took time to enjoy the moment together, chatting, laughing and making memories.
It was lovely to catch up with parents who have been part of the journey since the very beginning, as well as to meet so many new families
too. Lots of reminiscing about the early days, remember the pre-school class where we first heard the announcement of the Covid lockdown, who would have thought we’d now be together celebrating six years of cooking fun?

Games, Competitions & Five Lucky Winners
Our “Guess How Many Sweets Are in the Jar” competition sparked plenty of excitement, careful counting and lots of discussion. There were 154 sweets in the jar, well done to Enya, who was one of 3 who guessed 150 and was selected at random as our winner.
We also ran a Design a Birthday Cake competition, and the response was overwhelming. There were so many fantastic entries that choosing just one winner simply wasn’t possible, so instead, we chose five! Huge congratulations to Maddison, Bella, Jasper, Priya, and Tilly. Each winner received a Creative Kitchen gift voucher, which can be spent online in our shop or put towards booking future classes. Seeing the pride and excitement on their faces was a real highlight of the afternoon.

Six Years of Cooking, Learning & Growing 💜
Over the last six years, Creative Kitchen has been lucky enough to cook with thousands of children, work closely with schools, families and community groups, and watch children grow in confidence, independence and skill.
Some children who first joined us years ago are still cooking with us today, while others now return with siblings or friends. Seeing those familiar faces alongside new ones discovering Creative Kitchen for the first time made this celebration especially meaningful.
As we move into year seven, our focus remains the same: to continue offering hands-on cooking experiences that children love and families trust. We’re also excited to grow our adult workshops: relaxed, social sessions that combine practical cooking skills with the chance to meet new people and enjoy time together in the kitchen.
Thank You for Six Incredible Years
From a handful of children in a community centre back in 2020 to a jam-packed cooking school on a Saturday afternoon, this birthday truly felt like a celebration of how far Creative Kitchen has come.
A huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us, supported us and helped make our Sweet Six birthday one we’ll never forget.
Here’s to the next chapter: more cooking, more memories and many more moments shared together.
